These days a lot of people claim to be expert investment advisors. Most are not independent however. And if they are not independent, they are not advisors – they are sales people.
The most important question to ask is: Who is paying them?
If its you, and only you, and they have no other business or personal interest in the product or solution they are recommending to you, they are probably truly independent.
If they are getting paid by someone else, be it salary or commission, they are not independent. They are getting paid to sell products.
If paid by someone other than you, they are product pushers not problem solvers.
Beware of product pushers, particularly sweet talking product pushers.
If they are paid by you and you alone, they are not independent despite any claims they make otherwise.
